Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Development & Change

Building on the traditions of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching, the Sacred Heart University Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in Organization Development & Change (ODC) prepares graduates who are committed to ethical leadership, social justice and making significant contributions to the scholarly body of knowledge along with their workplaces, local communities and global initiatives. The ODC Ph.D. program enrolls mid- and senior-level executives and other experienced practitioners from all organizational sectors who are interested in studying and advancing practice, research, and theory in the disciplines of organization development, change management, and leadership. This program focuses on developing skills in research and practice in keeping with the scholar-practitioner model of higher education. 

Ph.D. Degree Requirements

Students must take 68 credits to complete the PhD in Organization Development & Change.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, students enrolled in the program have completed all coursework at another university (Cabrini University), which closed in May 2024. These students are only completing their dissertation studies and are thus taking one course at Sacred Heart University: ODC 790 Dissertation: Proposal, Development, & Defense (between 1-18 credits depending on their prior progress on the dissertation before matriculation to Sacred Heart University).

The Graduate Transfer Credit Policy governs the approval of transfer credits.
