Secondary Teacher Education
Students who wish to teach middle school or high school can begin pursuing secondary teaching certification during their undergraduate study and complete their teacher certification and MAT in the Five-Year Program. These students major in the subject they wish to teach and must declare a minor in education, once admitted to the Five-Year MAT Program. The Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development offers certification in Biology, Chemistry, English, General Science, Mathematics, Social Studies (History), Spanish, and Music Education (K-12). These students complete the major in their respective subject and also complete part of their study for teacher education as undergraduates. The education minor is only available for those seeking secondary (grades 7-12) certification.
Students should seek course selection advisement from their Major Advisor.
