A major in History requires the completion of 36 credits in History.
Required History Courses:
Two 100 level courses 6 credits
(one pre-1500 and one 1500 to present)
Upper level courses broken down as follows:
U.S. History (HI 222 or HI 223) 3 credits
Ancient History 3 credits
Three regional field courses 9 credits
Regional Fields include the following areas of study:
Asian History, European History, Latin American & Caribbean History, Middle Eastern & African History, and Comparative and Transregional Global History
Three free electives 9 credits
HI 301 The Historian’s Craft 3 credits
HI 395 Senior Seminar 3 credits
EDUCATION TRACK
Students who wish to pursue the 4 +1 MAT program have separate History requirements from the general track listed above. These include taking both HI 222 and HI 223. In addition, another free elective must be one in the field of Latinx or Black Studies. This leaves education students with a single elective (3 credits) of their choosing.
