Irish Studies Program
The Irish Studies program at SHU has activities, lectures, concerts, and courses on both its Fairfield, CT, and Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland campuses.

Sacred Heart University’s campus is located in the heart of one of Ireland’s officially-designated Gaeltachtaí, or Irish-speaking, regions, where students can encounter the language as well as a rich local culture. SHU in Dingle offers full-semester Fall and Spring programs as well as two-week sessions, one in January and two in May/June, with many courses offered contributing to the Irish Studies minor. SHU is currently renovating the recently-purchased Christian Brothers school in Dingle, an historic neo-Gothic building constructed in 1846 state-of-the-art facilities for classrooms, science and nursing laboratories, computer labs, and offices. SHU in Dingle has partnerships with the Díseart Centre of Irish Spirituality and Culture, where SHU classrooms are currently housed in a former convent amidst remarkable formal gardens, and the Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium/ Mara Beo, which offers students a hands-on experience of marine life and research.
