Master of Education in Special Education
Sacred Heart University's 30-credit Master of Education (M.Ed.) Degree in Special Education is intended for early-career, licensed educators who are looking to advance their teaching skillsets and professional opportunities and better meet the needs of students with intensive needs.
Graduate Teacher Internship Option
The Graduate Teacher Internship is available to candidates pursuing the M.Ed. Participation in the school-based experience entitles the candidate to 30 credits of tuition. Please visit our internship page to learn more about the program.
Applicants who have already earned their master's degree have the opportunity to complete their special education coursework through SHU's Sixth-Year Degree in Special Education.
The Graduate Transfer Credit Policy governs the approval of transfer credits.

Degree Requirements
This 30-credit course of study must be completed within six years of the date of completion of the first course. Candidates will be required to pass Praxis II in Special Education (5543) and Foundations of Reading (190, if not already passed) to apply for cross endorsement in special education.
